Ena Has Got Wet
It might sound like a strange title, but all it is, is that my Rib is called Ena. Ena wasn’t the first name I thought of, but when I decided to register it on the small ships register and with the MCA, the original name I though of was a bit of a mouthfull, excuse the pun, but the original name was Continue reading this entry »

Last weekend I had booked to go on my first trip organised by a Yorkshire divers member, sch, at Porthkerris. I didn’t know any of the people booked on the trip, but I had seen their posts.
The Plankton is back in North Cornwall
I was supposed to have been out on Redeemer today, but the continued southerly winds made it all a bit rough, which was a pity as the tides were perfect, very small neaps. After a trip to a quarry yesterday, everyone was wondering what to do today. My RIB still hasn’t been fixed, must order the new impellor?
So today we decided to do another shore dive. When we arrived at the cove on the North Cornish coast the sea seem to be boiling in the entrance to the cove. We wandered along the cliff to have a look, all very frothy, a sign that the Plankton was blooming. In our total madness we decided to have a look. Vis was under 2m, Plankton everywhere. I suppose thats gonna make the north coast a no go area for diving in under 20m for the next few weeks, anything deeper will be dark due to the Plankton blocking out the sunlight. But with every bad thing there is something good, soon the Basking Sharks will come and feed on the Plankton.

I understand that the weather can be against us in the winter for diving, but that can happen at any time of the year, I lose count at the amount of times I have missed dives due to rough seas in the summer.
