S.S. Hera, Again!

Well it was another Friday evening. Shaun still hasn’t decided to take us out for the usual Friday evening dives and Gary’s hardboat wasn’t available. So it was Gary’s RHIB or nothing! We met back at our original embarkation spot, Customs House Quay in Falmouth. After some discussion and Gary’s concern at the state of tide we still decided to dive the Hera, which hopefully wouldn’t be very tidal, it was mid tide, but it was still close to the small neaps. 7 set sail (powered) off into the sun drenched water,

And with twin 100hp engines on a very flat sea it wasn’t long before we arrived. Gary dropped the shot and in we went. I remember the first time I dived the Hera, the viz was great, it’s been pants ever since. But there’s always plenty of life around, including the largest Cup Coral I have ever seen. I was diving my CCR and pootled around the 16m site for 45m minutes and ended up first out of the water, I’ve dived the Hera so many times now, it is starting to get a little samey. It wasn’t long before the others started popping up, all surprised to see me on the boat already. I was diving again tomorrow and was just saving time on my scrubber really. A pleasant dive as always, I can’t wait for some good viz and hopefully I can get some good photos.

Everyone else enjoyed themselves, including the squidge lovers. It was a perfect evening for a dive.
